About Us
In The Garden was founded in 1999 by Frank and Suzan Galvan, who set out to bring color and character to Texas gardens with an eclectic, ever-changing inventory.
The shop grew out of a landscaping enterprise and warehouse storage space, evolving into the Spring Branch destination it is today for one-of-a-kind plants, containers, and accents.
Frank and Suzan are known for their personal service and a careful eye for quality merchandise that you won't find in the big-box stores.
How We Grew
Frank and Suzan Galvan build a landscaping business in Spring Branch, working with homeowners across west Houston.
In The Garden opens, drawing on the warehouse storage used for the landscaping work to stock specialty plants and decorative pieces.
The shop continues to carry an eclectic, ever-changing mix of specialty plants, herbs, fountains, containers, patio furniture, and original local art.
Tucked into a quiet street in Houston's Spring Branch district, the garden emporium has earned a loyal following among locals who appreciate a more personal shopping experience. The setting feels like a hidden bungalow nursery, where pathways are lined with greenery and lead visitors through curated vignettes rather than rigid aisles. Customers often describe stumbling onto the location for the first time as a small discovery, returning for the relaxed pace and the chance to sit a while among the plants before deciding what to take home.
The inventory focuses on locally grown plants alongside artisan containers, architectural accents, and decorative items chosen for character as much as for form. Traditional favorites like fountains and antique benches share space with fantastical creations and vintage finds, giving the space a sense of merge between old and new. Garden accessories and specialty supplies round out the selection, offering pieces suited to landscape projects of every scale. The emphasis stays on merchandise that adds color, depth, and personality to an existing yard.
Service is a point of pride, with a team that takes time to walk visitors through options and answer questions about plant care or placement. The atmosphere encourages lingering, whether someone is searching for a new centerpiece or simply looking for inspiration. Customers are invited to receive news and updates about seasonal arrivals and events, with respect for privacy treated as part of the regular experience rather than an afterthought.
Beyond retail, the shop hosts events that bring the community together, from seasonal gatherings to informal chances to socialize with fellow garden enthusiasts. Regular business hours run through the week, with Sundays set aside as a day of rest for staff and plants alike. As a proudly serving member of the Houston area, the emporium continues to grow its cycle of creative sourcing, welcoming both longtime regulars and curious passersby into its leafy, unhurried corner of the city.
